Lake Verona Lodge Bed & Breakfast
In 2009 Mary Rose and I found ourselves both unemployed. We decided to "try something different" and we purchased a "not-for-profit" bed and breakfast in Avon Park, Florida. I have a detailed history of what happened posted on this blog.
We ended up spending 1/3rd of our retirement savings on a next to worthless business. We tried virtually everything to improve and market the B&B. We now refer that phase of our lives as "The world's most expensive Florida vacation." This is a video I made summarizing all of the improvements we made in our attempts to make this business a success.
After our first year running the Lake Verona Lodge Bed & Breakfast the Avon Park, FL
Chamber of Commerce presented us with the 2009-2010 Beautification Award for the
improvements we made to the property and house.
During the time we ran the bed and breakfast we got nothing but positive reviews. Frequently, our dog Jack was mentioned, and listed as one of the "amenities." Here are a few of the reviews:
