Life - Does any of it make sense? I just heard on the radio that yesterday we had a high of 78 degrees, and then by evening the weather plummeted down into the 20's.
Florida in the morning, and Minnesota in the evening. New Topic: My wife and I have frequented the Taco Bell in Maryland Heights on Dorsett for the past 13 years. Kudos to them for never getting our orders wrong that entire time! Also, the drive-thru line usually moves reasonably fast most of the time. (A record only matched by Lee's Famous Chicken on the Rock Rd.) Last night I decided to "save time" and I ordered our meal through the Taco Bell app (first time). The theory I was operating under was that by ordering through the app from home, it would be quicker and the food would be waiting for me when I arrived. Sounds good on paper, doesn't it? I live about 10 minutes away from this Taco Bell. By the time I bundled up and headed out the door I arrived at Taco Bell about 15 minutes after I placed the order. There were 3 cars ahead of me in the drive-thru line where you order your food. According to the app directions, all I needed to do when I got up to the order speaker was give my name. Minutes went by with no movement of the 3 cars ahead of me. I sat there for a while (49 minutes Dog time) and decided since there was no one behind me I would back up and park my car and go inside to get my order. I saw 4 employees when I reached the counter. I stood there for 5 minutes (Human time) before someone came over to ask me "Do you need help?" I said, "Yes, I placed an order through the app." Then I gave him my name. He told me, "It will be just a few minutes." (was he using Dog or Human time?) My theory was already blown. Ordering through the app did not save me any time (Neither Dog or Human). After 10 minutes inside, looking out the window, I noted that all 3 of the cars that were ahead of me had already driven up to the pickup window and received their food. Another theory shot - I had reasoned that my order, the one I placed 20 minutes earlier, would be filled before the cars outside that just pulled up. Maybe I'm overthinking the whole thing? Or, maybe it was just my dumb luck! I do have the tendency to always pick the wrong line at Walmart. I always seem to end up in the line where the person at the checkout has some issue that causes the need for management to come over. I stood at the counter for another 10 minutes, and then finally a young lady came over with my order. It was "hermetically sealed" with tape. I debated whether or not to take the tape off and check my order to make sure everything was there. Recently, I've had several items missing at other restaurant drive-thru's, but I decided to have a little faith. I went home without checking the order. When I got home everything I ordered was in the bag, plus a hard shell taco I didn't order. This was the first time something extra was in the bag. Yay! Maybe they tossed it in because of the long wait, or maybe it was the Universe's way of rewarding me because I didn't mouth off to anyone despite the delays. I'm not upset, I'm just not sure I'll bother using apps to order food.
